Kellsport 18 oz. sweatshirts are mens sizes. They are a full generous cut. No need to upsize. Smaller women and kids can generally wear the smaller sizes with no problem. Sweatshirts can be exchanged for size, or returned if not as expected. It is sometimes difficult to judge a full cut sweatshirt from a size chart. Sweatshirts are not "fitted" like a regular dress shirt or sport jacket. We have included some size examples from actual people in our factory based on height / weight. And of course, it all depends on how you like the sweatshirt to fit. Some like it snug, while others prefer the loose and baggy feel.
Chest sizes can be confusing for sweatshirt sizing. Keep in mind that your suite size or shirt size does not really relate to sweatshirt sizes. Suit jackets and dress shirts are made to lay flat against the body. Sweatshirts are loose and comfortable fitting, and will have much larger dimensions than suits.
We recommend on the 1st washing, to wash warm, and lay flat to dry. Your cotton sweatshirt will dry in a few hours. This will control the shrinkage during the 1st washing cycle. When worn, the fabric will "relax" and give back about 1/2 what was lost in the shrinkage. The sweatshirt will only go through this shrinkage cycle one time. High heat will dry out cotton fabric. We recommend laying flat to dry your heavy cotton sweatshirt.
All the seams on every Kellsport heavyweight sweatshirt are sewn twice for extra strength. Kellsport sweatshirts need to last from 7 - 10 years, and we make sure that they do. We've been doing it this way for almost 40 years.
Kellsport Hoods are extra large to cover the entire head. These heavy sweatshirts are built to perform, and keep you warm. The heavy duty cotton drawcord will last for years. Heavy duty brass grommets secure the holes for the cord to pass through. Notice the heavy duty double-sewn seams.
The "Louie" collar sweatshirt was invented by Kellsport over 30 years ago. It's great for people that have no need for the full hood, but still prefer some neck protection and a full muff pocket in front.
